SCIENCE!

One of the two things we commonly tell clients: Life is complicated.

Yet we try our best. And science tries its best.

Science clearly does not have all of the answers. It does not even have all of the questions. But we muddle through. And we have accomplished quite a bit by muddling. Any idea what the mortality rate was before penicillin? Look it up. Amazing.

We have people tell us that their supplement is 'natural' so it must be healthy. You know what is natural? Poison ivy. Nothing more natural than a poison ivy plant growing in the woods. Try chewing on that for awhile. Not so good.

And gluten-free donuts are still gluten-free junk food.

We mention this because we all need to be vigilant about what we do. What we eat, breath, learn, think, and say. Science can offer a tremendous amount of information to help us, but it cannot offer enough. At Refine, we will ALWAYS tell you what the science says if you want to hear it. Mind you, we recommend things that western science is not so sure of. For example, the scientific evidence for turmeric is questionable, yet we reasonably, and for good reason, believe the potential benefits outweigh any potential harms.

In our SCIENCE! articles (a bit facetiously named) we aim to tell you the evidence behind many popular health-related topics. On your own, you can find more information than you can read on coffee, kefir, kombucha, and Atkins. But what is right? What is true? What is accurate, concise, and what has evidence?
