The Relationship Between Pain and Weight

Just about everyone knows there is a relationship between excess weight and pain.

The most obvious is what is sometimes called Fat Mass Disease.  This is where excess fat creates pressure on other parts of the body.  We often think of how excess weight can lead to knee and hip pain.

You may also know that extra fat cells also often increase body wide inflammation.  Sometimes when people lose weight, their pain goes down just because of lower levels of total body inflammation.

Yet, if you have pain, that makes it harder to get out there and exercise.  If you are limited on exercise because of pain, try two things.

First, reduce weight through nutrition.  While exercise is great for your overall health, it is your nutrition that will have a bigger impact on your excess weight.

Second, get help from someone who can show you how to exercise despite your pain, a person like a physical trainer, physical therapist, doctor, or other health care professional.
