Diet Soda - Gift of the gods or Born of the Devil?
We know that sugar sweetened beverages like soda are no good for your health.
But what about diet soda and non-nutritive sweeteners in general? In the end, there is no “strong” research, or very rigorous research with a large sample size, that proves diet soda is bad for you.
In general, when compared to people who drank primarily water, people drinking diet soda did not weigh more nor did they eat more.
Does diet soda affect your microbiome? There are no high-quality studies that show a strong link between diet soda consumption and changes to the microbiome.
Does diet soda affect your hormones? There is no evidence of any relationship between diet soda and hormones, nor are there any studies supporting a link between diet soda and craving sweets.
In fact, there are no studies with strong results that say diet soda is worse than water.
